At the top right, open the dropdown that shows the current range, such as **Last 30 days**. Select the period you want to review. Available options include **Last 7 days**, **Last 30 days**, **Last 60 days**, **Last 90 days**, **Last 6 months**, **Last 12 months**, and **All time**. After you select a range, the **Cookie Interactions** widget updates to reflect the number of **Accepted** and **Rejected** interactions in that timeframe. ## When to use each time range - **Last 7 days**: check recent changes after updating your banner or consent settings - **Last 30 days**: review a standard monthly snapshot of consent activity - **Last 60 days** or **Last 90 days**: compare broader trends and smooth out short-term fluctuations - **Last 6 months** or **Last 12 months**: monitor long-term changes in how visitors respond - **All time**: see the full history of tracked cookie interactions If you recently changed your banner design or settings, compare **Last 7 days** with **Last 30 days** to see whether acceptance and rejection behavior has shifted. ## How to interpret the report A higher **Accepted** total means more visitors agreed to cookies during the selected period. A higher **Rejected** total means more visitors declined. The widget is useful for spotting changes in customer behavior over time. For example, if rejections increase after a banner update, you may want to review the wording, layout, or options shown to visitors. ## Related banner settings Customer responses in the report are influenced by the choices available on your cookie banner, such as **Accept**, **Manage preferences**, and optionally **Decline**. If you want to change whether visitors can explicitly reject from the banner, see [Show the Decline button](/show-the-decline-button). --- ## Troubleshooting ### Consent mode shows inactive **URL:** https://cookease.mantledocs.com/consent-mode-shows-inactive ## When this happens After installing and configuring Cookease on Shopify, you may use some Google reporting tools that show that consent mode is inactive. In most cases, this is caused by one of these two situations: - You’re testing from a location where the Cookease cookie banner is **not** shown, so Consent Mode won’t appear active. - Consent Mode is working, but Google’s reporting (GA4 / Google tools) hasn’t updated yet. ## Before you start: verify the Cookease banner is actually showing Consent Mode can only be detected reliably when the cookie banner is shown to the visitor. If the banner isn’t showing (for example, because you’re testing from a location where it’s disabled), most tools will report Consent Mode as not active. ### What the banner should look like On your storefront, the Cookease cookie banner typically includes: - **Manage preferences** - **Accept** - Optionally **Decline** (if enabled) If you’re not seeing the banner, test in a private/incognito window and refresh the storefront page. ## Step 1 — Test from a location where the banner is enabled Open a private/incognito browser window and visit your storefront homepage. Make sure you can see the Cookease cookie banner with **Manage preferences** and **Accept** (and **Decline** if you’ve enabled it). If the banner doesn’t appear in your test session, Consent Mode checks will usually look “inactive” because no consent state is being collected from that visitor. ## Step 2 — Confirm Cookease is enabled in your Shopify theme Cookease’s banner settings live in your Shopify theme settings. Use the same path you’d use to control banner options like the Decline button. In your Shopify admin, go to **Apps** > **Cookease**, then select **Enable Cookease in your theme**. In the theme settings area, confirm the cookie banner is configured the way you expect for your storefront. For example, you can control whether customers see a Decline option using **Decline All Button** set to **Show** or **Hide**. [Show the Decline button](/show-the-decline-button) If Cookease isn’t enabled in the current published theme, the banner may not appear on your storefront—causing Consent Mode tools to report “inactive.” ## Step 3 — Check Consent Mode with a browser tool You can use a consent debugging plugin (for example, **Consent Mode Inspector**) to verify whether Consent Mode is active and whether signals are being sent as expected. ### What the “gcs” values mean Some tools show a `gcs` value representing the current consent status: - `G100`: `ad_storage` denied, `analytics_storage` denied - `G110`: `ad_storage` granted, `analytics_storage` denied - `G101`: `ad_storage` denied, `analytics_storage` granted - `G111`: `ad_storage` granted, `analytics_storage` granted Run your test again after interacting with the banner (for example, selecting **Accept** or opening **Manage preferences**) to see whether the consent state changes. ## If the tool still shows issues If your consent checking tool shows errors or doesn’t detect Consent Mode even when the banner is showing: - Re-check that you completed all Cookease configuration steps in Shopify and that Cookease is enabled on the correct (published) theme. - Confirm you are testing from a location where the cookie banner is enabled. ## Why Google reports may still say Consent Mode is not enabled Even when Consent Mode is set up correctly, Google tools and reporting may continue to show that Consent Mode is not enabled for a period of time. Google’s modeling and reporting may require time to “learn” from your data after installation. Based on real-world timelines, this often takes at least **4 weeks**, and can take up to **10 weeks** depending on traffic volume. Either: - **Misconfiguration** (Cookease not enabled in the published theme, banner not showing in the test session, or incomplete configuration), or - **Google-side delay** (reporting/modeling not updated yet). If your storefront shows the Cookease banner and your consent inspector tool shows valid consent states (for example, `G100` before consent and `G111` after Accept, depending on your setup), the remaining gap is usually Google reporting latency. In that case, allow time for Google’s reporting to update as more traffic and consent interactions are collected. ## Related Enable the “Decline All Button” setting (Show/Hide) so your banner displays a Decline option. --- ## FAQs ### How to show the Decline button **URL:** https://cookease.mantledocs.com/show-the-decline-button ## Why the Decline option is hidden By default, the Cookease cookie consent banner shows **Manage preferences** and **Accept**, and keeps **Decline** hidden. You can change this from the Cookease theme settings in Shopify. ## Turn on the Decline button in Shopify In your Shopify admin, go to **Apps** > **Cookease**, then select **Enable Cookease in your theme**. Use the theme editor button shown in that area to navigate to the theme editor and locate the setting named **Decline All Button**. You will enable Shopify’s cookie banner, turn on the Cookease app embed in your theme, add your Google Analytics ID in **Cookease Settings**, create a Shopify **custom pixel**, and update the cookie banner text with your Google Privacy Policy link. This guide uses the same labels you will see in Shopify and Cookease, including **Customer privacy**, **App Embeds**, **Cookease Settings**, and **Add custom pixel**. ## Before you start - Make sure Cookease is installed in your Shopify admin. - Make sure the **Google & YouTube** app is already connected and your Google Analytics setup is working. - Have your **Google Analytics ID** ready before you begin. If Cookease is not enabled in your current published theme, the cookie banner may not appear on your storefront even if the app is installed. ## Step 1: Enable Shopify’s cookie banner Cookease works alongside Shopify’s customer privacy controls, so the first step is to make sure Shopify’s banner is turned on. In Shopify admin, open **Settings** > **Customer privacy**. Find **Cookie banner** and enable it. Click **Save** to apply your changes. After saving, Shopify can begin showing your cookie consent banner based on your customer privacy settings and visitor location. ## Step 2: Enable Cookease in your theme Cookease must be turned on in your active Shopify theme before its banner settings and consent behavior will appear on your storefront. In Shopify admin, go to **Apps** > **Cookease**. Select **Enable Cookease in your theme**. Use the theme editor button shown there to open the Shopify **Theme Editor**. In the left-hand sidebar of the Theme Editor, click the **App Embeds** icon. Select **Cookease** and switch the toggle to **On**. Click **Save**. If you later need to adjust banner behavior, this same **App Embeds** area is where Cookease theme settings appear. For example, the existing Cookease setting **Decline All Button** controls whether shoppers see a **Decline** button alongside **Manage preferences** and **Accept**. ## Step 3: Add your Google Analytics ID Cookease includes a **Cookease Settings** page where you can store your Google Analytics ID. Before adding the ID in Cookease, make sure Google Analytics is properly integrated through Shopify’s **Google & YouTube** app. From Shopify admin, open **Apps** > **Cookease**, then open **Cookease Settings**. Find the **Google Analytics ID** field and enter your ID exactly as provided in Google Analytics. Click **Save**. If your Google Analytics setup is incomplete in the **Google & YouTube** app, adding the ID in Cookease alone will not finish the connection. ## Step 4: Add the Cookease custom pixel in Shopify Shopify’s **Customer events** area is where you add the custom pixel required for Cookease. In Shopify admin, go to **Settings** > **Customer events**. Click **Add custom pixel**. Enter a name for the pixel, then click **Add pixel**. In **Permission**, select **Not required**. In **Data sale**, select **Data collected does not qualify as data sale**. Use the **Copy Code** button provided in Cookease, then paste that code into Shopify’s **Code** field. Click **Save** at the top of the page, then click **Connect**. Do not change the copied pixel code before pasting it into Shopify. Even small edits can stop the custom pixel from working correctly. ## Step 5: Add the Google Privacy Policy link to the cookie banner After the banner is enabled, update the cookie preferences text in Shopify so it includes your Google Privacy Policy wording. In Shopify admin, go to **Settings** > **Customer privacy**. Click **Cookie banner** to open its settings. Uncheck **Use automated settings**. Next to content, click **Edit**. Use the **Copy Text** content provided by Cookease and paste it into the **Body** field for **Cookie preferences**, replacing the existing text. Click **Save**. ## Check that setup is working After completing the steps above, test the storefront in a private or incognito browser window. - You should see the Shopify/Cookease cookie banner. - The banner should include **Manage preferences** and **Accept**. - If enabled in Cookease theme settings, it may also show **Decline**. If you do not see the banner right away, refresh the storefront and test again in a private/incognito window. This helps avoid old consent data affecting your test. ## What to check if the banner does not appear - Make sure **Cookie banner** is enabled in **Settings** > **Customer privacy**. - Make sure Cookease is turned **On** in **Theme Editor** > **App Embeds**. - Make sure you saved changes in both Shopify settings and the Theme Editor. - Make sure you are testing the currently published theme. ## Related setup notes Open **Apps** > **Cookease**, choose **Enable Cookease in your theme**, then use the Theme Editor and open **App Embeds** > **Cookease**. By default, the Cookease banner shows **Manage preferences** and **Accept**. If the **Decline All Button** setting is enabled, shoppers will also see **Decline**. The custom pixel is part of the Shopify customer privacy and tracking workflow.
